Argan fruit harvest
- The argan tree is the only species of the Sapotaceae family (Auberville, 1964).
- It is a tree endemic to Morocco, located especially in the southwest of the Kingdom.
- The argan tree is best known for its adaptation to aridity and for its oil extracted from the kernels of the fruits harvested from Argan trees, mainly in the wild.
- The harvest takes place between the months of June and August.
- Vibrating machines cannot be used because this would cause the dry branches and existing argan flowers to fall.
- Berber women therefore wait for the ripe fruit to fall to the ground, then they carefully collect them and leave them to dry under the sun.
